Losing a close friend or a family member is hard, but can sometimes have a positive effect. When you lose a family member or a close friend, you begin to realize which things are really important to you in your life, and which things are not important at all. This would probably not happen otherwise until you are a lot older and are probably nearing the end of your life. Sometimes things that seemed to be very important in your life before become very insignificant. Depending on who you have lost, sometimes you become closer to other friends or members of your family as a result of the loss. Also you change the things you focus on in life, and you appreciate some things more than before. You also spend a lot more time thinking to yourself for a while after that and you sometimes understand things in a new way or understand things you didn’t understand before.
